I downloaded a movie from the net and when I opened the folder there were about 30 files in there but they were all the same thing. Basically if that did not make sense I can't see how it couldn't but there were 30 files of the same movie. My question is why would that be ? Also when I played the movie on my computer there was no sound, I'm hoping after I burn it that there will be sound. Its burning right now but does anyone have any input on these 2 questions.
Edited:
I just looked in the folder again and there happened to be 1 different file, it is an sfv file, could this be the sound file ???? Just wondering. I also went under properties then details under the main movie file and it said audi unknow.

Unhide file extensions and use winrar to unrar the files. You are proly playing a sample clip you got of the movie.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
Can you give me a little more info on unhiding file extensions ? I used winrar to extract the file but there was still no sound.
-
Tools/folder options/view uncheck hide extensions for known file types, also install ac3 filter codecs cause your file most likely has ac3 sound.

Well that really did not do anything, there is a file in the main folder ( its 2 disc and the main folder contaions disc 1 folder disc 2 folder ) the file says its a nfo file and then reads something like this xvid.XXXXX.nfo . Also you said install the codec so I can hear the sound, well if I convert it to dvd format and burn it, will I be able to hear it on my dvd player ?

Use WINrar to open it. Then you have to extract the files from both CD1 and CD2 seperately to a different folder. Right click on CD1 folder and extract files to ...... wherever you want them, same with CD2.
Then you have to go to this new folder where you extracted to and view in detail the contents. Right click on the first file and extract this to a folder (it has to be the first folder as it will automatically extract the remaining files) You should now have 1 large bin file. Now, go back to the original CD1, open the first file and you should see a cue file ... extract this to where you have the large bin file. You now have your bin/cue file with which you can view your movie.
Make sense? (I hope)Suck it up princess !!! -
I could not right click on the folder and extract the files, there was no option to let me. I tried high lighting all of them but that only extracted 1 file. It says its an avi file but there is still no sound. Any other ideas ? Should I manually extract all the files to 1 folder ? I don't see how the other folder will produce a cue file though.

Anyone else have any ideas ? I try using winrar to extract all the 47 files but only 1 file comes out an thats an avi file with no sound still.
-
there are many files that are like this " XXX.r1-xxx.r30 " but one file has a extension of xxx.rar, and thats the one u have to unrar
-
I thought you had it, but nope I upripped that file and still no sound. Does it matter where I unrip it to ?

Let me elaborate on what the mod has (and has not) said:
1. When trying to get help with video, PLEASE don't tell us where you got it. It is a very unnecessary bit of info and usually makes you look like a fool when you tray to explain it.
2. We don't need the movie name to help you. Even without the name, we really hate to help pirates around here, but leaving out the name is a nice little courtesy here (just state the file type).
3. If you have problems with RAR files or any other compressed format, go to that programs site. That has (almost) nothing to do with vdeo or any other "specialty" on this site.
4. Please do not use the "from a friend" excuse for ANYTHING. If you're having problems with something from a friend, have that friend help you. You will no doubt get a warmer reception from that friend than you will from us (especially me)
Excuse the rant, but we get a litlle too many of these types of questions around here. -
Supreme2k speaks the truth.
We get many that just lurk here long enough to learn how to rip commercial DVDs from a friend's copy or transfer illegally downloaded movies to DVD. They post maybe 10 or 20 times, then they're gone, taking what they need and not giving anything back. Hit and run warez pirates. All DVD sites get more of this type than we'd want.
You may not be this type. I like to assume the best intentions ...benefit of the doubt and all. If you're still here in three months and have a hundred or so posts about something besides what this forum can do for you, consider this my apology in advance for lumping you into this category. -
Thanks guys, I understand where your coming from and I am thank full you guys still help out. I will be here for a long time asking and hopefully helping others once I become good. Metallica thanks for all the help, I did email my friend and he said it was some type of ac3 file, never heard of it myself but he sent me the codec to download to make it work. Now the problem is I need to put this on a dvd-r and get it to work on a stand alone dvd player and it needs to have sound. This is where I am stuck and I have no where to turn to, even asked my friend and he did not have a clue this time.

check out the conversion guides to your left.

Dam I should of stated that, I looked at the guides but I have no clue what guide to look at. Do I convert the audio just ? Do I convert the hole movie, if I convert the movie can't I just let nero convert it for me, but there still won't be sound or will there be ?
