  2. This is an example of misled marketting. The MAIN reason cdrs/dvdrs die is not due to scratches, its due to poorly manufactured discs, bad burners and cheap media. The sectors just go bad after time, during burning, etc, and it only takes 1 to screw up the whole disc. A simple cd-condom isnt going to help that situation. This sort of thing would only be beneficial to pressed dvds and cds that your little Timmy and Tammy like to not put back in the cases when theyre done. And what happens if the plastic layer gets dirty/scratches/bubbles?
Just buy taiyo yuden cdrs and good dvdrs, and a nice plextor burner. (I had CRC errors on TY dvdrs and they burned wierd sometimes..Maybe its just burner compatibility though, i went back to Riteks.)

Pressed dvds and cds are primarily what it's intended for. If the protection wears out, you put another one on, like the article says.

To me, it appears this is aimed at those who don't have the inclination (whether it be time constraints or monetary) to figure out how to backup their stuff and/or make an investment in a cd/dvd recorder and media and just want to protect what they already have relatively cheaply.

Pretty good invention, surprised it wasn't brought to market sooner.

Overpriced, but they work. They don't even seem to affect rip speed.

If its put on a relatively expensive dvd then i can see the advantage, scratches do get on dvd's no matter how well you handle them and seems like an added protection to a point.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

Not a bad idea for those boxed sets that run $40+ like Godfather trilogy and Alien Quadrilogy.
