  1. According to the info on ULead's website Workshop 2.0 allows you to add one of two types of copy protection to the videos/DVDs you create. I have a few rather large video project and want to insure I get a program that will allow all of the capabilities I require and one of those is copy protection. I downloaded Workshop 2.0 trial as I would like to try the copy protection before actually buying the program however cannot see where you select or add copy protection for the video. I would appreciate if someone could tell me where you select to add copy protection and which of the two protection schemes would be the better one to use.

    Thank you

There is no way to copy protect a DVD.

So this statement by Ulead at this website is a lie?

    Copy Protection
Add copyright protection to your DVD titles with Macrovision and CSS options.

A lie? Misleading is more like it. Unless you happen to have the money to back you up once to set the flags for CSS/Macrovision then these options are fairly useless for the average home user.

richdvd is correct in his statement that there is no way to protect a dvd. Yet. True, there may be some discs that are troublesome to decrypt but on the whole, virtually all prove to be so easy to copy that many really do wonder why the studios even bother to invest money in 'copy protection'.

    1. On the Finish page, click on the Burn button.

    2. Click on the Advanced Settings tab, and you'll see the options for adding Macrovision and/or Region Code.

    3. As anyone on this site can tell you, these can easily be defeated.

  6. I didn't mean to imply I thought for a minute I could create a DVD that could never be hacked cracked or whatever you want to call it as I know that is not the case. What I would like to do is add at least a basic copy protection so the average Joe can't simply stick it in their DVD player and record it onto VHS, or another DVD without at least a little hassle or extra hardware.

I realize anything can be defeated but most people that I will be dealing with will neither take the time or effort to try to defeat any copy protection. If they can't simply copy it they won't bother.

Just trying to add at least a minimal layer of protection for the hours of work I am doing.

    Thank you

Then the Macrovision option ought to do that for you.

..but you may have to pay extra for it:

I guess it's up to you how much it's worth to you to protect your work in this way.

Well so much for that idea.

    Thank you

  11. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that you can only use Macrovision and CSS encryption in Workshop if you're writing to DLT.
That's my opinion, and if you don't like it, I'll change it.

I did see that for CSS but not Macrovision.
