  1. i transferred recordings from my Dish PVR to my pc.

    they are in MPG format (DVB).

    with tmpgenc, i succeed to re-encode the files...but i'm not satisfied at max...

    so lot of people talk about CCE...

    but CCE only takes AVI files...

    what's the better way to transfer these MPG files to AVI or to make CCE open them ???

    P.S. i tried DVD2AVI and tmpgenc and virtualdub mod, but they create very huge files !!! like original is 1gb and output is like 16-32 gb !!!

    Well you need to learn how to use avisynth and dvd2avi. You need to create a d2v file with dvd2avi and then you need to use mpeg2dec in avisynth to encode your videos. Sorry I can not guide you through this but you need to read some of the guides.
