  1. does any body knows way to put 4 videos about 45 minutes long on one dvd like one you buy at a store. I will eliminate my VHS tapes series to dvd with menus and chapters, but all programs I have seen capture the video then burn it to dvd I will like go step further by capture, deleting the commercials, adding chapters then burn it to a DVD. So at the end i have a DVD with a menu to choose from a series of videos with chapters any suggestion

What have you tried so far? There are several guides in the Author section at left.

  4. any of the programs you try should allow multiple videos onto dvd. your going to be limited to how much you can but on other wise you'll sacrifice quality. for a newbie to this i would recomend the following which worked for me when i started.

DAC-100 to capture video with scenalyserLIVE
Vegas Video 5 for editing and converting to DVD complient MPG
(can be adjusted to use a lower bitrate allowing more time on your dvd)

then if you want to go the easy way use TMPGEnc DVD author to add as many videos as will fit on add menus with the default templates or create your own. the good thing is there is a nice little bar along the bottom showing you how much space you have left on your dvd.

thats the way i used to do it when i started and always had great result.

    This is what I'm doing.

I use a standalone dvd recorder, Panasonc DMR - E80 to transfer the VHS to DVD.

Then I take that DVD to the computer and use Nero Recode to pick out titles and compress to fit on one disc.

I've then been using Nero Vision Express to write a menu and set chapter points.

This has worked great for me most of the time.

However, as I've stated in another post, I've run into trouble with some dvd created by my Pannie that has a large number of titles. But most of the time, the above has been working great for me and I'm not anything close to proficient with computers and software. Its very easy.

  6. If you already have compliant MPEG files try Uleads DVD Movie Factory.. .very easy to use... you can drop the vids in, create some menus and burn away.

(I did 5, 30-40 minute Rescue Hero VHS's to one DVD for the van... worked great)

    Hi Dollar,
My Pioneer dvdr7000 defaults to inserting chapters every 10 minutes. When writing in vr mode for some reason these chapters are read by computer software as separate titles (I use TMPGEnc DVDAuthor). I don't know if this is the case with your panny, but you might try going into settings on your panny and set default as no chapter points. Hope this helps.

Yeah, do a little more research. All the answers you need can be found in the guides and by doing a forum search.

I thnk the correct terminology is the Pannie creats a large number of files.

I just looked at a disc that one title had 68 files. There were 4 titles in my compillation.

And theres a black screen between each file, that one title had 68 black screens. It plays for 15 seconds or so, then a black blip with an audio break, then plays the next file.

I've recorded others that will only have 2 to 6 files per title. I think the black screen is stilll there, there's just not as many files and its not as noticeable.

I think you may be correct though, I think whether I set chapters with the Pannie may have something to do with the number of files. I made these recordings last fall, so I'm stuck with what I did then. With the Pannie, if I re-encode , it will auto chapter points every 5 mintues. If I do a high speed burn, I have to set chapter points manually. Its entirely possible that I set no chapter points on the disc with the large number of files.

I woulld search this subject, but I've no idea where to start.
