  1. Hi, I'm messing around a bit with Ifoedit and I'm trying to replace a part of the text in an IFO file to see what happens, but I can't figure out how. There's an option to copy a part of the text in an IFO file to the clipboard, but I don't see an option to paste new text in there.

Is it possible to simply delete text from an IFO file with Ifoedit and replace it with other text ? Or is there maybe another program that allows you to do that ?

I often replace subtitles with IfoEdit. I use the DVD Author=>Author New DVD function. Then adding the m2v, mpa files, I add the new .sup file.
    Hello.

What text ? There is little or no text in an IFO file

  4. I'm talking about the text you see when you open the IFO file with Ifoedit and not if you open it with notepad.

  5. IFO files are not text files. That text is not in there. What you see with Notepad is what's in there. IfoEdit interprets it.

  7. Yeh yeh... :/

Someone explained me how to do it about two hours ago, so it's possible to change it.

  8. Of course it is. Open Ifoedit.exe with a Hex Editor and modify whatever you want.
But you'll be modifying Ifoedit, not the IFO files you open with it.

What's the chances of random changes to a program
    improving it ?

Same as the chances of a bunch of monkeys typing randomly
on typewriters producing a Shakespeare play

  10. petar, I said I wanted to change the IFO file of a DVD, not the program Ifoedit itself. :P

I authored a DVD with author sofware that doesn't have the option to add subs, but it allows you to make a menu. So I authored the DVD again with Ifoedit that does have the option to add subs, but not to make a menu, then I replaced some files and edited the IFO file.

I was only messing around with it to see if it was possible to get a menu and subs on a DVD this way and it seems to work.

  11. Well, you should have explained from the beginning that that's what you wanted to do. You asked how to change "text" in an IFO file and then you posted a screenshot of Ifoedit where some text is crossed.

Yes, you can author a DVD with Ifoedit and add menus afterwards with another tool. There are quite a few guides on this site that explain you how to do this (I wrote one too for DVD-Lab Pro).

  12. I'm sorry, but I don't know how to explain it better than "I'm trying to replace a part of the text in an IFO file to see what happens".

I only posted a screenshot, to show which part I wanted to change.

Anyway, I'll give your guide a try, looks good.
