I have completed what I think is a good conversion of a file that I downloaded and now have taken that mpg file and used Nero VisionExpress to compile the movie. But when I "preview" the movie in Nero VE, I get very wavy picture after 1 second into each chapter. This also happens in Windows Media Player and RP, BUT NOT IN Windows Media Classic.
My question is: should I go ahead and burn to a DVD, thinking that this is just a player problem on my computer (codec?) or does this give me a heads-up that it probably won't work on my standalone DVD player either?
Thanks for the advice.

I think you should first edit this post and omit the words "that I downloaded".
Now, having said that, what do you intend to burn the files onto? A DVD? A CD? If you intend to go to DVD, the best program to view them on is probably PowerDVD or something along that line. That will give you the most accurate idea of how well it will play back."It's getting to the point now when I'm with you, I no longer want to have something stuck in my eye..." -

Give it a try on a blank rewritable, what do you have to lose??

Just some f/u info for you all.
After I saw that it worked in PowerDVD,I did burn it and it turned out fine.
Thanks for all the advice, and I guess I should buy some of the DVD-RWs for those times when I'm not sure if I'm going to like the results. I have indeed wasted one-too-many discs just wanting to see "what I got" for my file/video.
Now that I have PowerDVD, have to ask your opinion: Do you think I should just trash WMP and RealPlayer? I've looked at some of the forums on it and it seems to be that they aren't even worth keeping on my computer. I'm familiar with them so maybe I ought to keep them around??? And if I do trash them, how do I know what codecs to trash too so that the ones they used are not taking up space needlessly? -
Hello,
You've got a 120gb harddrive, keep it. I found sometimes removing programs can cause more problems than just leaving them. The programs themselves can't be more than 10 or 20mb. Why bother? Just don't use them if something like powerdvd works.
