DVP642 DVD DivX Menu?

I have some episodes I want to burn to DVD that are encoded in DivX. When you burn a data DVD with AVI's on it the DVP642 player shows them to you in afile/folder list .Then you select the file you wish to play. Is there a way to make a DVD style menu (i.e. thumbnails, background pic, music, etc.) for this player?
I've tried making a regular DVD menu with Ulead DVD MovieFactory and then substituting the VOB's for AVI's with no luck. The player tries and then gives up back to the menu. Any ideas?
