  1. I'm in the market for a chromakey BG, but don't know what my options are...

I've seen the screens in various sizes on ebay, but are the prices and quality on par with something I could get from a fabric store?

Next, does the green color need to be SPECIFIC, or will any light green do the trick?

The background can be any color, as long as it is even. Green is often used because it is used less frequently for clothing. Blue is also often used as it does not give you a green cast on your subject from the light reflecting off of the background. Back lit chroma key backgrounds are also an option, they tend to be easier to make even. You can buy chroma key "bright" colored paints at places like Markertech and make your own. You can also find cyclorama "curtains" that are chromakey "bright" colors. We have a green cyc at work. Anyplace that sell professional lighting should be able to provide these cycs.

  6. lol....

Chromakey is the process of bluescreening or greenscreening....for the home user, all one has to do is to throw down a green piece of felt and stand over it. During editing in my case, Sony Vegas Video 5, you can designate that all things green are removed...allowing a background clip to be shown with you in it.

A perfect example would be the nightly weather segment of the news. The meteorologist doesn't even really know what he's pointing at...only a green screen no wonder he can't get the weather right.

At any rate, I bought some Behr brand 'Green Acres' paint and will be painting a wall in my spare bedroom to make it into a green screen.
