QUESTIONS FROM A NEWBIE ABOUT BURNING DVDS

first when i use tmpgenc is there a way that i can fix the brightness, when i play the dvd they seem to come out just a little bright . (is there a fix number or something that is just right )

2- a standard dvd can hold 4.37 gb or up to 235 min. is this correct? so how come when i try toput a 2 hour and 10 min. movie , it tells me i am over 4.7 gb . do i look at the time or the size.......any help with these things would be great.
