good player to play .ogm files

I installed the latest Xvid decoder and use VLC player software to play .ogm files, but there is an error.

First, i play the file and it has no video. shutdown VLC player and get a gpf error.
Second, re-start VLC player, now the .ogm file plays fine. but when i shutdown VLC player, i still get the gpf error.

basically, what is the standard software to play .ogm files.
