can't encode avi PAL > svcd NTSC

I need to add subs to an avi PAL. That means convert it to svcd as we all know. But I need to convert it to NTSC too and here my problems begins.
The result is a svcd with subs but audio not sync. The audio is delayed 10 -12 seconds.

I've been using the quick setup SVCD and "decode audio with mplayer" option.

Are you sure that your player is not able to play it in PAL mode? If it is not, you should know that "decode with mplayer" is unable to change framerate. So you could try to convert first to another format like AVI mpeg-4 NTSC and then back to SVCD.
