  1. hi i dont know if i'm posting this in the wrong section and if i am , i'm very sry. no body responded to my other mesage and i really need help. Its kind of a audio problem but at the same time authoring problem.

i like TMPGENC DVD AUTHOR alot b/c its a really easy program that is jus a simple 3 step process that u cant possibly get lost. i can create n do everything just fine. but i have 1 big problem and dont know how to fix it. when i convert mpg file to the dvd vob files... it reencodes my audio and messes it up. after it finishes encoding my whole audio is out of sync and it jus looks like a crappy burn. I already burned 2 things like that and now i'm hessitant to burn w/ this program again. Its a big problem for me and i was wondering if anyone know how to fix it.

again. i have audio sync problem after it converts my mpg file to vob, the audio is out of sync when i burn it when its played n seems bad. ANY HELP WOULD B GREAT

    THANKS!

  4. So you're using mpg1 with 44kHz audio? If so, don't let author re-encode it for you. Demux the file so you have audio to work with and convert it to 48kHz with some audio program. I use sound forge for this.
In Author, load the original mpg file as normal, but under "audio input file name" browse to the newly converted audio file and use that instead of the default which will use the audio contained inside the mpg. This should be ok, it's worked for me.

  5. so u think the problem is the 44khz that is in mpg1 files? and jus convert to 48khz should fix the problem.

i thought somethin about that but wasnt sure i'll give it a try thanks

  6. what does demux mean?

is there any specific filetype i should change the audio to or jus use any.

  7. Demuxing is just splitting a file (in this case mpg) into 2 files one containing video and one containing sound. I think the problem you
are having is that your audio is getting screwed up due to the re-encoding needed to make it dvd compatible. It does need to be changed, but there are better ways to do it.
The type of file you save it as depends on your space requirements. I usually use PCM.

  8. i cant use soundforge trial version b/c it wont let me use mpg... so i'm using virtual dub... do u think it'll work jus as good?

  9. wow when i converted the audio to wav, it came out to be 500mb which is bigger than the whole mpg file itself... is that rright or did i do somethin wrong?

  10. Depending on how long your video is, i'm not surprised that the wav is huge. You should try using Besweet, I've heard good things about it and it's free. Try just converting the sound to 48kHz but don't change the file type just make the conversion and save.

  11. hey matt sry been busy havent gotten a chance to try it yet... i was wondering do i need any other program along w/ besweet to make it work good.. cuz i read somewhere that there was another prog i had to use if i used besweet but forgot the link or name of the prog.

  12. I just want to say that I've let Tmpgenc DVD Author (TDA) convert the audio many many times. Never a sync problem.

Now it could be that the problem you are having is a result of having TDA convert the audio, combined with some other issue.

So even if converting the audio outside of TDA solves your issue I think it would be a mistake for people to just thing that TDA causes sync issues when converting audio.

In fact when I have had sync issues with TDA it was after editing the file with some other program before useing TDA. Did you by any chance cut out commercials or do a little editing to this file before using TDA? If so your solution might be to just cut out the commercials in TDA or try a different program for editing.
