DVD-R Media Checker?

Hi All,
I know this have been asked before.

I am having trouble with blank media towards the end of the disks, I also know this is due to poor media ie: Princo.

I have cut about 200mb off the end of the disk so that it will not write to the edge.

My question: Is there any FREE software I can run on my disks BEFORE I burn them to check if they are OK.

No - you need data on it to verify the media.

You can check the media code on a blank though, and avoid problematic media that way by not buying it again. A lot of online retailers will tell you the media ID of the discs they sell, so you can stick with the ones you know work for you.
