  1. this might be a lame question but i've converted all my analog cam footage to dvd and burned. now how do i get the stuff off my dvd to make a home movie. i need a few scenes off a few dvd's. is this ripping? thanks.

    Yes that would be ripping if you've already made the dvd (on a physical disc). Go to the tools section on this site and look at the dvd ripping tools. Dvdshrink is a very good one to try. Dvddecryptor is another.

    P.S. These will put the .vob files to the harddrive. You can convert them to .mpg using any of the guides posted on this website. (Or use tmpgenc dvd author and it will read the .vob files directly)

  3. You could get away with just using windows explorer to copy the files from the DVDR since you say you burned it yourself...there won't be any copy protection so explorer should work
