I have some VCD's I want to copy, but they seem to be to big to fit on a 700MB CDR. Is the file structure explained here somewhere? Can I break them down onto two discs? What are ther bare minimum files needed to get it to play on a standalone player?
I have EZ CD Creator 4 and Sony CD Extreme to do the copying.

A VCD format CD stores substantially more than a normal ISO (data) type CD. For instance on a 80minute CDR you can store about 800Mb of information (in ISO this is only 700Mb).
I use either Nero or Clone CD to copy VCDs and both seem to work fine with these type of VCDs. Sometimes Clone CD is very slow but it works.
A friend has had problems with Adaptec and his solution is
1. copy all the .DAT files from the MPEGAV folder
2. rebuild the VCD using Nero by making a new VCD and dragging these DAT files onto the VCD
3. Write the new VCD
Note this method does not preserve menus etc. -
If the VCDs already exist (ie. you have the discs) then:
1) Are the CDR based VCDs, if so copy as normally
2) Are they commerical VCDs, if so what size? 74min CDR holds 740MB of Mode2 data, 80min CDR holds 800MB of Mode2 data.
Either way, you should be safe copying to an 80min CDR.
