I am having a problem today... I got a dvd image that i burn alot of copies of with no problems (with Nero 6).. ususally i burn it at 4x or whatever... but today i tried burning the same image as i always do and my writing speed is "grayed out" i cant change it.. however if i attempt to burn the DVD (exact copy) i can choose whatever speed i want.. here is an image of the problem... any ideas? never seen this happen before...

Bad quality blanks. They are probably not capable of burning faster.

  4. The media is either crap or the drive does not support higher write speeds for that media.

    Download DVD Identifier:
    http://home2.planetinternet.be/ping3828/downloads/dvd_identifier.zip
    Homepage:
    http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/

    It is a free utility.
Put a blank dvdr in your burner, run the program, hit "Identify".
Under the "Drive capabilities" tab it will show you write speeds for that media supported by your drive.

Tell us what DVD Identifier tells you.
