    What speed is advisable or the best in burning vcd or svcd?

    Unfortunately, there are some people that will say "2X is the best otherwise you'll get errors" but they're wrong. A S/VCD is simply a bunch of files, put on a CD in a specific directory structure... No different than any other data backup or disc copy.

    Burn your CD at whatever speed both your burner AND media are rated for and you'll be fine. If you have problems, then its probably your DVD player not being fully compatible with the chosen brand of media.

    This is true, however VCD and SVCD are burnt in Mode2 which means there are no error checking bits like on on a standard ISO data CD.

    Theoretically this means that VCD and SVCD are more prone to burn errors at higher speeds.

    Saying this, I have never seen any difference buring at 2X or 12X.

    I posted a message like this a couple of months back and it really took off. The final verdict was that burn speed doesn't matter. The only time you may want to try burning at a lower speed is if your DVD player won't recognize the VCD. Sometimes lowering the burn speed will help.
