There was a deal at RadioShack. 50 Ritek CD-Rs (HD-Burn compatible) free after MIR. Got me two packs and am currently waiting for that rebate. Too bad it's expired.
I'll keep an eye out. For quality, I would go with the TY anyway. -

sdsumike619, i've been using Ritek CDRs for a while now and have gotten nothing but superior performance. I've read that Ritek wasn't the best with CDR media but that must of been early on b/c i've been using these for some time now and couldn't make a coaster if I tried. I've got cheapy CDRs from 5 years ago which still play perfect so I personally wouldn't spend twice as much for the "snop appeal" TYs. To each his own though. Here's what I buy and it's priced very nicely and work great.

When I first saw the title of this thread, my first thought was aren't CD-Rs cheap enough?! Christ, I was paying $2 a piece for them back in 98. And you couldn't just walk into Walmart or Staples and buy them. I had to get them at computer stores.
Then I thought, "Maybe he's included quality in the value equation." That theory was shattered by the the rude, terse response from the poster.
None of us are under any are no obligation to help anyone. Yet several people took the time to post what they felt were good deals .
If all that matters to you is price, wait for the next Staples sale and buy some junk media. I made that mistake once. I got a great deal on Staples branded media. Almost all of them wouldn't even burn- they were complete junk.
If a 25 cent CD-R seems like a "ripoff" to you, maybe you should find another hobby.. -
dafoe, I didn't think the original poster was being rude, they were just looking for a good deal. They probably shoulda responded with a little more detail though instead of the one sentence which probably came off wrong. I agree that all CDR media is dirt cheap right now but if someone is ordering thousands then I do see a difference in price. And some are on such tight budgets that .18 a disk vs. .25 does make a difference. IMHO, I don't see a difference between TY media and the Riteks I use. I'm sure some error program will show TY with overall lower errors, but my disks play back perfectly with no coasters, so what gives? I just don't believe in throwing money away. The early years of CDR were much more problematic in that you had to know what was good and what wasn't. Now I think CMC makes like tons of cdr media for so many different manufacturerers, and I personally haven't had issues with any of those either. So it's all about what works for you. For .18 a piece right now i'm stickin with my Riteks.

As for the original poster, I believe his commment was rude. Let me pose this analogy: Your are lost in a strange city. You pulll over to ask a pedestrian for directions. He's a local college freshman, so he's almost as unfamiliar with the area as you are. Unfortunately, he can't help you.
Instead of saying, Thanks anyway, you blurt out "Don't you know anything? Thanks for wasting my time." before speeding away. Wouldn't THAT be rude? That's essentially what the poster did.
I've had a DVD burner for 3-4 years now as well as two set tops. I rarely use CDs. When I run out (every year or so) I go to Walmart and buy a 100 pack.
Unless the 17 cents a disc includes shipping, you aren't really saving anything. With DVD burners and media quickly dropping to rock bottom prices, CD-Rs are becoming an obsolete format- like the floopy. I can't imagine too many people are ordering CDR-s by the thousands. -

Taiyo Yuden CDR's at $26.00 a 100 spindle. I think that they have had this price for over a year now. When ever I have ordered from them they have shipped my order out the same day and I would receive a tracking number that night by E-Mail.

not to burst anyones bubble, but resellerratings.com isn't all that it is hyped up to be. On most stores they have a handful of reviews or at least less then a few hundred. Anyone that's taken a basic statistic course knows regardless of whether the results are positive or negative, you can't get an accurate sample with such little feedback. I use Bizrate.com and I'll give just one example of many. I've been buying things online for well over 5 years and since this is a media forum, i'll use a media site as an example.
I buy mostly from shop4tech.com I've been buying from them for about 3 years or so. Before I ever bought anything though I checked around to see what kind of feedback I could get on them. For the most part there just wasn't enough feedback to make a good decision either way. When I first bumped into resellerratings.com the same was true. Hardly any people with reviews. I think there were like 30 people or something with reviews. Multiply that by 10 and you still aren't even close in getting a realistic sample.
But I eventually found Bizrate.com and searched for shop4tech and what would you know. There were thousands, yes, thouands of reviews. Most of them were positive and I actually just checked them out now, there are over 25,000 people who have rated them since 2000! That's a sample for you alright. I guess serious buyers as well as even shop4tech aren't the least bit concerned with resellerratings.com as shop4tech could easily change their own rating to reflect a much higher one if they wanted to. That would be too easy. But they couldn't do it on bizrate.com. Just a handful of posts on resellerratings.com would make an impact either way, but at bizrate, it wouldn't do much.
By the way, shop4tech with those 25,000 user ratings have 90% or so positive reviews. No way in hell any site could legitimately fraud that with more then 25k reviews. So regardless of who you buy from, if there isn't a decent sampling pool, then you're really not doing yourself any favors. There are a lot more online sites that I buy from as well which have countless thousands of reviews whereas resellerratings doesn't even have a fraction of them.
In short, it's either this: http://www.resellerratings.com/seller787.html
Or This: http://www.bizrate.com/ratings_guide/cust_reviews__cat_id--0,helpful_yes.x--18,helpful...2,start--.html
Or about as much of a no-brainer as there is.
