Does the 300 have a built in tbc? If I were to convert alot of old vhs videos to dvd would it be better to use a 300 or a 100 or 55 with a data video tbc? starting up a video conversion business here in Texas.Is anyone in the business? any tips?just starting part time at home. thank-you

You must be talking about Canopus DV converters.
According to some post I have read, getting an ADVC-300 is the way to go especially capturing form bad quality VHS sources, but I cannot validate this.
I have an ADS Pyro A/V link, similar to the Canopus ADVC-100, but in order to avoid dropped frames I need to use a TBC. The ADVC-100 is supposed to produce great results without TBC, but it sometimes is not capable to defeat macrovision.
