Hi,
I have a strange problem with the new TV Wonder drivers, which are included in the new MMC 7.1 package (WDM drivers), which is now downloadable from ATI's web page. Very happy to finally have a driver update, I removed the old drivers and MMC, and installed the brand new MMC package, but later I realised that there are no capture devices on the system!!! What does this mean? There are no capture drivers included in the package? Or do I have to reinstall my system? I just can't understand. If any of you has any idea, please help me.

I have recently updated my software and drivers to 7.1 as well. It is a very intense install, be sure to read the directions as it took me a read or two to finally get it. A word of warning - 7.1 is way better, BUT, sometimes the program doesn't want to start up, it takes a few ctrl-alt-del and then retry's before it fires up. But once it does, you'll love it!

I read those directions and I tried as hard as I could to follow them. The program works without any problem, it always starts for me. But there's this issue, that I don't have a capture device in the "multimedia" panel, and because of that, I cannot use any other capture program with the tuner. They all say they cannot connect to the capture device. Of course, since it doesn't exist!! The question is, why?
One thing I don't like about this new MMC is that I don't see that list of frequencies there used to be in the previous versions. I have to use the autoscan feature, and I hate it. But I don't really care, because I use dTV anyway. Nevertheless, I'd like to use the new WDM drivers, they should be better. But where has the capture device gone? I just don't understand. -
I did the install and have no problems.
I uninstalled ATI MMC
Went to control panel and removed all the TV card items(uninstall)
Ran the New MMC Install (which copied the drivers to a specified directory as well as a MMC directory)
reboot
When asked for drivers for the detected hardware I pointed to the new MMC drivers directory
edit: I also overwrote when it said x drivers are newer and make sure to install the digital video update from microsoft and directx8a.
Then I installed the new MMC

FiEND, did you check in Control Panel/Multimedia/Devices/Video Capture Devices if you have a capture device? That's my only problem, that I have none. This way other capture programs don't work at all. And I wouldn't want to use MMC to capture, because there are better programs for that.

gtrz, thanks, it kind of works. I still get a bunch of messages about the missing capture device, but after it, it works. I think I'll try a clean reinstall of my system, to see if it works better that way, or if I can get it work without the wrapper.
FiEND, I'm glad to hear it works for you without the wrapper. Maybe reinstalling my system will help. Just to be sure, what version of Windows do you use? And your TV Wonder, is it NTSC or PAL? -
im running win2k SP1
last time i installed SP2 it killed my capture totally
running it ntsc -
