  1. I want to convert some DivX movies to MPG so I can burn them to VCD's.
If I do so, will there be any quality loss due to the converting? If so, how can I keep this loss to a minimum?

    Theos,

I've been getting excellent results using tmpgenc. I make sure to find DIVXs at a minimum of 352x240 and 25fps, but get better (640x480, 480x480...whatever) if I can. A few 320x240 if capture is excellent. It just gives me a little more black space, but I'm willing to put up with it if it looks good. Just make sure that what you download looks good before you create your VCD. Garbage in, garbage out.

    Have a good one,

  4. Wouldn't someone known as the "VCD-Master" know this already? haha
Seriously, if you are creating an XVCD or a SVCD, use the link on the left to find a bitrate calculator. Plug in the movie length, and cdr size, and voila.
