  1. Hello.

Sorry for the subject but english + this kind of problem gives me some problems.

I bought a USA NTSC JustPlanes DVD. I'd like to make a backup copy.

I ripped all the dvd directories on HD using DVD Decrypter 3.2.2.0, then i tried to use IC8 to make the backup. It said, more or less, that "it is not possible to make copy of css protected file on HD".

But DVD Decrypter showed that no css keys were on DVD. And the ripping finished without error.

I had another try: with smartripper, i re-ripped the previously ripped files on HD, in another directory. On one vob file, after a lot of tries and using all methods, SM cannot find the css key, so end the ripping.

Copy and paste had the same result.

Why, in your opinion, i cannot make my backup copy?

    Thanks in advance.

use another burning program like IMG TOOLS or NERO BURN.

  3. The original dvd is 7.3 GB.

First i need that the final VIDEO_TS directory is 4.37 GB, or less. Then, i may burn.

The problem is in the ripping step and in the following one (IC8).

i'm lost as to what you're trying to solve. how about just using DVD SHRINK to compress. it seems the problem is using INSTANT COPY 8. i have never used that software. if you are able to rip the movie on to your hard drive then use another burning program to back up the dvd. if instant copy isn't working for you then try another burn program. does dvd decypter rip all the files to your hard drive or not?

My English permitting , i will try to explain myself better.

    1) i always used DD for ripping, IC8 for compression/stripping unwanted stuff and IC CD+DVD for burning. Never had problems.

    2) like in the past, i rip all (CTRL+A) the dvd on HD.

    3) the rip finished without problems, showing that wasn't css protection.

    4) IC8 (that i prefer for the better image quality, doesn't matter the time) doesn't start because find a kind of protection css. And i need to reduce dvd size from 7 to 4.7 GB.

    5) SmartRipper too cannot decrypt one vob already decrypted (?) and saved on HD by DD.

    Future tries:

    a) ripping with smartripper from dvd
    b) Anyvd use
    c) direct copy from dvd with IC8

    Any other hint?

as I've suggested then use DVD SHRINK to COMPRESS and use another burning program like NERO BURN. if what you're using isn't working then obivously you need to try other software.

if you want better image quality then use DVD REBUILDER. <<<<Look in the tools section to your left for DVD REBUILDER. To me that is the best video quality compared to any other dvd software.

if you insist on using the software that you've stated then i guess my suggestions are not going to help you.

    good luck!

  7. Ok, this evening i will try Dvd Shrink and/or Dvd Rebuilder.

For information, does DVD Shrink accept css stuff in input?

    And DVD Rebuilder?

    Thanks

  8. Another think you might want to try, but I don't know if it will work, is to use a program like anydvd or dvd43. Or use it in conjunction with DVDdecrypter. I like to use anydvd with DVDdecrypter, some say it's just doing the same thing twice, but I like working with video on a HD. This is what I do. I have anydvd running, then I rip to ISO using DVDdecrypter. Then I mount the ISO. So in essense I'm decrypting it three times.
    Blah, blah, blah

    it breaks the css encryptions.
as for dvd rebuilder the process is long depending on how fast your cpu is. i have a pent 4 2.4 ghz chip, takes about 4-5 hours to transcode and compress a 7-8 gb dvd movie. try dvd shrink if you want it done fast. read the guides to the left for dvd rebuilder<<<<<<.

    good luck!
