i have two dvd burners on my system and when i try to burn a dvd they only will burn at 2x. I'm not trying to burn at the sane time but cant burn 4x with either drive. i have a sony dru500a and a lite-on 411

Have you checked to see that DMA is enabled for the drives? If you can't change them, you can delete the Primary and Secondary channels and let Windows reinstall them and that should update them.

For DMA settings: Control Panel>System>Device Manager>IDE controllers (Primary and Secondary)>Properties>Advanced Settings, DMA if available.
