Burning speed do not matter. Only the playback compatibility matters.

Don't get either. Try to find TY +Rs as there are some real good prices for them. I don't trust Meritline or Ridata.

Arita is Ritek's B grade media - they can be perfect, but expect overprints, slightly imperfect finishes etc. Generally speaking the writing side is OK, but you will probably find Arita discs are sold without warranty.
To be honest, one of my colleagues uses them and apart from one that had a dye imperfection, has yet to have a problem with them. -

These are the single worse discs I've ever used, aside from BENCOLE, CMC and Matrix. Not more than 25% of them were good ... and that may be on the high side.
At first I thought my BTC was to blame, but a Pioneer upchucked on them too. Bad, bad media.
The ones I got came from OfficeMax and were "2.4x" but refused to burn anything other than 4x on any burned it was put into. The dye turned to trash during burn.
RICOHJPN is normally great media, but the pink ARITA 2.4x are horrible for some reason. At least in my experience and with 2-3 others I've spoken with.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

I got mine at Office max for 40 for 100 after rebates. I'd buy more again as long as the quality is as good as my last batch so I guess it's more like YMMV
I'd guess these are kinda like the infamous Ritek G04 media that works great for some people and burners and crap for others. -
I burned a 100 pack of them without a single bad disc. Bought them from Office Max.

I also bought a 100 pack from Office Max,they check out as Ricoh's. I burned all 100 and had 4 bad,the dye coating was bad on outer edge. Not bad at 40 cents each.

Wow lordsmurf, those are thaty bad? Thanks for changing my mind about them. Maybe Office max gets better ones and Meritline gets RMA's and grade C media. Also I see that there are a lot of negative comments about Meritline. Why is that? Is there anything specific?

meritline is considered a good retailer - see www.nomorecoasters.com.

By the way, 88888 I am with you on this one about smurf "full of ......" he is slaping his own face by writing that information! -
Arita brand were, are, and always will be a 'crappy Riteks'.
They are lowest grade Ritek media (C or D - depends on a country).
Just tried to find the page with this info and post link here, but seems like ritek's site was redesigned again. Perhaps someone else have it saved or found it on the web? There was also information about RiData branded media and grades. -
Meritline is fine. Most complaints I hear about are because somebody buys cheap media. User's fault for buying junk.
Most Meritline has ever really done wrong is be a bit slow sometimes or let the site sell items that are out of stock (I think that's been solved for a long time now).
They even do a good job at packing DVD cases, so they don't arrive broken. That's something rare to find on that item. I just ordered my first batch of cases from SuperMediaStore too. I was amazed at how well packed the cases were. Not a single broken case. Even thetapecompany and usplastics get damaged in transit, a reason I quit buying from them on non-special items.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
