Help..
I am new to this stuff. I have a bunch of XVid Avi files that I am trying to burn to DVD. I used AVI Codec to get the following info from one:
File : 106 MB (106 MB), duration: 0:22:20, type: AVI, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 26 %
Video : 97 MB, 610 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 384*288 (4:3), XVID = XVID Mpeg-4, Supported
Audio : 8.96 MB, 56 Kbps, 24000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x55 = MPEG Layer-3, Supported
They are all fairly the same. I need to know the best and easiest way to get them on a DVD. I have read some of the guides and tried things like WIN AVI and TMPGEnc but get some errors like unsupported file or when I use Win AVI it errors at the very end saying address error or something like that.
Please tell me the easiest way to convert and then author to DVD. How many of these AVI's can I expect to get on one disc with decent quality? Any program where I can burn several files and add chapters?
Thanks for any help

converting is not easy. I suggest you read more guides. The best is what works for you. Why not try other programs, and think for yourself instead of letting others think for you.
I am not trying to be rude, but I try things myself.
Converting avi to dvd is a complicated time consuming process that uses many programs. -
When I try to do xvix to DVD, one program that usually works for me is Cucusoft AVI to DVD Encoder, I think TMPEGEnc DVD author also worked too...

easiest:
Cucusoft AVI to VCD/DVD or Winavi video converter. Be sure to test the trials before you buy anything...they may problems with some video sources.
if you are using tmpgenc be sure to read www.videohelp.com/tmpgenc#problems -
If you have Nero 6 you could try Nero Vision Express. You can stack almost anything, AVI (Xvid, Dvix), VOB, MPEG1/2, together and in any combination, merge and chapter and create a menu if you like. Give it a shot and see if you find the quality to your liking.

DVD Movie Factory is quite good if you want something basic and easy to use.

Just make sure you have the latest Xvid, DivX and Mpeg codecs installed. -
Just try WinAVI v5.7 beta2 test version, it fixed all the bugs we have known. You can get it from:

The best is using DVD2SVCD with ECC
I had succesfuly convert Xvid to DVD every thing works fine I finish the convertion in 2h. Im using AMD 2000XP its normaly slower that Pentium 4
but it works fine.
There is only one problem When I play the movie(DVD) the scene it's in slow motion it's not real time. the movie move slow not like the source XVID it play normal movements. The adio syncronisation works good.
