shut down processes - free up memory

I have 29 processes always running in windows when I initially boot up even after I've removed all startups. Is there any way to tell which processes are safe to shutdown and disable before I begin capturing video? Thanks!

you can use this to figure out what they are doing and if you need them running or can kill them with the Task Manager.

Before you start removing processes, check your CPU performance indicator. I presently have 40 processes running on this computer and they have zero effect on capturing.

The CPU usage is zero percent at idle if I don't do anything. Typing or moving the mouse runs it up to 2 percent. If it is showing over 5% or more at idle, you may have some processes that are taking CPU cycles.

With Task Manager you can kill any running process and when you reboot they will restore. A few like scvhost will kill your machine temporarily. You can generally kill any processes with the 'Owner' user name.

Spybot S&D with the 'Tools' option activated will show all processes, where they are located and info about them. It will also let you deactivate them. Gives you a lot more information about the processes than Task Manager.
