Which Yamada??

I want to purchase a DVD player that handles most if not all media formats available to date. Reading through extensive posts here, it seems the Yamada series seems to be in-front. Yes, it has it's cons, but still out performs (according to other Users) anything in the market place today. Problem is there are a number of models of this make and I have no clue which is better.

Could Users who have purchased this make comment on it's performance, compatibility, looks etc...

I have a Yamada 6100. Its is a FANTASTIC bit of kit. It will play MOST things (but not xvid codec 1.00 and above encoded movies........which means 99.999999% of most XVID avi's will play on it....this number WILL decrease tho). DivX 5 and below is handled OK.

No menu's on VCD's or SVCD's but they play OK.

It has all the audio/video inputs/outputs on the rear..so it will supply a 5:1 speaker system if required.

The remote control is a naff design(el cheapo........but works ok).

The zoom feature is pretty crap (it over does it...........easily solved tho' ...use a widescreen TV and let that do the zooming).

Some people have reported a weak DVD/CD loading tray............I've had no problems at all.

plays jpeg/mp3 cd's just fine.

On screen menu's are basic.....but work.

No more support by manu...boooooooo...wankers.

Oh, and it plays DVD's fine.

My kids use it (a 3 and 4 year old) so its pretty robust, yet they can handle the on screen menu's for avi's).

EASILY the best hardware kit I have EVER bought (cost £79.99 from Amazon.co.uk)..the time it saves on re-encoding avi's to vcd/svcd/dvd must run into WEEKS......and no crappy pc whine/hum if you are used to a TV out.

Just slap an avi onto a cd as a data disk and play.....how simple is that? It dont get any simpler!

Oh and the KIDS now think cd avi's ARE dvd's........................GET ONE..or a later model......TODAY!

I have the Yamada 6600

It plays everything and handles NTSC/PAL conversions well.
It plays everything I give it thugh I have not tested it on every little thing

Picture CD is great layout and easy to flip pictures
Div X works perfectly
All other format that it should play it plays perfectly

I recomend this product very much
