Is there a program out there that gives *true* .wav to AC3 conversion results.
Seems like some of the top names I see in the forums for converting audio wav to AC3 also mention they dont make true AC3 files.
    Tanks bunches.

I use softencode and it makes true dvd compliant ac3 files. I think that there are many programs that can do true ac3 but they all cost money. Ive read that to do true dvd compliant ac3 the program has to be licensed and a fee paid to some dvd licsensing commitee.

    Thanks,
I will give it a try and let ya know what happens.
Its a problem with MainConcept that im actualy having. When I try to load the audio after converting wav to AC3 with BeSweet, MainConcept doesnt recognize it as being audio.
Im thinking it could be because its not a true AC3 file.
Who knows, I give it a try.
    Thanks again.

I have tried ffmpeggui and I also get a "no audio found" when I try to put the outcome audio file into MainConcept.
At first I thought it could be the conversion programs not giving *true AC3* but now im beginning to think it could be something with MainConcept.
It doesnt even give an AC3 option in the audio outcome drop down box.
Ive tried searching the MainConcept site and havent found any info on it.
    I will keep trying.
    Thanks for all your inputs.

  6. tmgrood - I have often taken .wav audio and converted to AC3 using ffmpeggui - especially where I need to reduce the size of the audio file - and added the AC3 audio to the final authoring program.

I don't know if it's a true AC3 - but it has always worked so far on DVD's played on my standalone - and no sync problems!

TMPGEnc Xpress with the AC3 plugin does this conversion properly. Even though it's not free, it's not that expensive either.

Why would you want to load an ac3 file into mainconcept. Just use mainconcept to convert your video. Then any good authoring program will take your separate m2v and ac3 files.
