You need a dts encoder. Those are not freeware and usually pretty expensive.

The bitrate you gave I am guessing you are trying to make it dvd compatible? You are better off using freeware like eac3to and downconvert to 448kbps ac3 so you can incorporate it properly into a dvd. You obviously won't have the same fidelity as the original audio but it will be a heck of a lot cheaper this way.

The True-HD audio features original bitrate of 1800 Kbps. I would like to convert it to DTS 1510 Kbps to include it in a MKV video ripped from a Blu-ray.
I even convertible to AC3 640 Kbps, but the quality was much lower than the original, I believe in DTS 1510 Kbps would be much better.

Ps: Sorry for my bad English but I speak only Portuguese, I'm using the Google translator to write.

If you don't care about file size why not leave the truehd in?

Going from 640 to 1510 dts will increase the file size.

Leaving the truehd intact would be the best way to go.

If you don't need to fit the mkv on a dual layer dvdr than size doesn't matter as long as you have the harddrive space for it.

Surcode DD and DTS will do this very easy, just use surcode Dolby digital to convert your AC3 to WAV, then use surcode DTS to convert your WAV to DTS.

This will take for a 120 minutes movie from 15 to 20 minutes

  6. as suggested by rzainaddin SurCode DTS encoder will do that, convert your AC3 to WAV, then use surcode DTS.
Also note that AC-3 and DTS follows different channel mapping, just re-organize channels for DTS.

Came across this thread while searching for how to convert TrueHD to DTS. I have both Surcode DD/DTS programs, but cannot figure out how to convert the TrueHD file to WAV. Help is appreciated.

You may give a chance to ffmpeg - it should be quite straightforward.
    Code:
    ffmpeg -i %1 -vn -c:a pcm_f32le -f wav "%~n1_pcm.wav"

I converted the TrueHD file to WAV with ffmpeg as you suggested. Was I supposed to convert it to 6 separate channels because it seems like that's the only way to load it into Surcode DTS?

So then it isnt necessary to split the WAV file into 6 separate files before creating the dts file?

    Hi,
how many channels did you get from fmpeg conversion to wav ?1, 2 or 6 ?
I think ocenaudio can do dts from any numbers of channels, but it cant made up from stereo -> 5.1.
numbers of Input Ch = number of output Ch.

6 channels in, 6 channels out.
Someone mentioned that DTS has different channel mapping than AC3. If this is true, then I'm guessing the channels have to be split up to properly arrange them when creating the DTS file.

I think, it should be done software automatically. Just try it. You have nothing to loose. It is question of time. If it is problem, I think that they will not supported it.
But on other hand I have not 6 wav channels to test it.

Then you may follow this one: https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/AudioChannelManipulation#a5.16mono of course you can name it automatically using my example, side to this you may give a chance for ffmpeg to perform downmixing from 7.1 to 5.1 or even DTS or AC3 encoding.
