okay, the story thus far -

I was given a disc, and it plays horribly - skips, jumps, stalls, you name it. it doesn't appear to be damaged, but who knows.

I run a backup of it, thinking that if I can rip it, maybe it will work. ran an ISO with Decrypter, the backup copy behaves as badly as the original.

ripped it with Smartripper, same problem.

so I extracted the movie only as an m2v and ac3 stream with SmartRipper, imported them into DVD Lab and created a new disc. This one works, but the video is about half a second ahead of the audio.

is there a way to fix this without doing any major surgery to the files?

the audio stream created by SmartRipper said it had 0ms delay, but that's obviously not the case.

    any info appreciated.

I'll check it out... but can that change the offset in the other direction (ie delay the audio instead of correcting delay)? the video is actually chasing the audio, not the other way around.

let me go and see.... thanks for the tip. this is the first time I've encountered this, so I'm not up on the common corrective tools...

DVD-Lab has a tool for audio delay, it's a button near the bitrate viewer. I've never used it, but it's supposed to let you change it either way. Give it a try and report back if it works.

    two questions -

    - what version of DVD Lab, and
    - where is the bitrate viewer?

    I'm still using 1.1.....

other times there would be no audio later in my converted movie, with dvd-lab.but like i say,not had any problems using,beta4 or lately with 5.

that's never been a problem for me, but I usually don't have to reauthor a dvd this way - 99.9% of my DVD Lab work is with captures that I've encoded, not reauthoring a screwed up disk.

couldn't get the AC3 Delay Corrector to work, but I noticed in BeSweet that you can set an offset... I'm compiling a test now, we'll see if it worked - I was about 47 frames off, video ahead of audio.

I'm using v1.4 beta 2. It works perfectly, never any problems. I've never experienced audio sync issues with DVD-Lab, so I never tried the Audio Delay tool.
