And for some reason i now have 987Mb of space...i checked the folder where the temp files should be and its empty. So what the hel?

Try right-clicking the drive from explorer, pick "properties", then click the "Disc cleanup" button. Get rid of offline files, temp files, and recycle bin. Then check your space again.

If these are large files it is creating then they will most likely be highly fragmented, especially since you are nearing the limit on your hard drive. Run disk defragmenter and look at the results of its analysis. Don't defragment, just look at the list of the most fragmented files. Your elusive files should probably be listed there, and you can track them down and delete them.

Another suggestion is to set windows to show all hidden and system files. (open any folder and click tools/folder options/view/ and check show hidden files and folders.) Then check in the CloneDVD temp directories and see if they are visible now. Also check the general windows Temp directory.

Finally, if you are running something like win XP or Win2k (maybe can't remember) then make sure these aren't just the system restore points taking up all your hard drive space. There should be a restore folder somewhere, and these files can definitely eat up all your hard drive space if you're not careful. It may not be CloneDVD at all.

  4. I believe by default it throws these files in your Document and Settings / Your User Folder / My Documents OR Local Settings .... look all around there... I'm always able to free up about 100 to 200 megs of space by deleting tons of crap from these folders (be careful)
