    Hi all. I use a hard drive docking station, Thermaltake BlacX, to backup files and such. I was wondering if I should be storing my loose hard drives in a certain bag or container, or is it okay to leave them stored in a drawer uncovered?

    To be completely safe use static free bags or box.

    Of course, the best storage solution would be the original packing material.
    -In lieu of that;
    It's probably too low-budget for some, but I've used quart size zip-lock bags.
    For each bag, I've cut a 6.5" x 5" piece of heavy cardboard which is placed in the bag to protect the open side of the drive.
    No drive failures ever, no problems experienced regarding paper dust, and the transparent bag makes it possible to see any label(s) identifying the drive's contents.

    As I stated, perhaps too low-budget for some, but it's worked perfectly for me.

  4. I store mine in an antistatic bag and in a clam shell package

    Storing them unprotected isn't a great idea. You can easily scratch or break the mainboard or shock it without knowing.

    I the past, I only used these. Just bought one case for each drive
