  1. I have a dvd with 3 episodes that I would like to convert them separately as individual movies. I believe the episodes are on one title track. Since it is combined as one, how can I import it to FCP to cut out the unwanted title sequences and just the episodes itself?

  2. To do it the easy way, you can use a commercial program like Cinematize.

For the more involved (but free) way, you can use MTR or OSEx to get the different titles out, followed by bbDemux, followed by a52DecX for the audio, followed by perhaps DiVA for the video.

  3. although I haven't tried it, DVDxDV is another program you can use to extract the audio and video from a DVD or vob into DV format for editing with iMovie/FCP.

For me the easiest and cheapest way is to extract the Titles/Chapters/Whatever streams with YadeX. The YadeX .m2v video stream will import directly into FCP which will automatically convert it to DV. Use something like mAC3dec to convert the AC3 stream to an AIFF or WAV then import that as well. YadeX and mAC3dec are free. YadeX has a built-in viewer that allows you to preview what you rip.

I agree about YadeX. It's ability to preview and bemux on the spot make it a favorite of mine.
