Would this still be a good buy over version 3? Its not that old and its going very cheap at my local store. I use VS8 for importing and editing, and I am looking for something that gives me a bit more flexibility in creating menus etc than VS8 has got. Also it seems that MF3 does exactly what VS8 does. I don't understand the duplication in these products!
    TIA

    Try DVDLab instead.

I use MF2. Menu flexibility is NOT a feature. It has a bunch of predesigned menu templates that you can "customize", though you cannot change the thumbnail position on any of their templates. Also, you are forced into always having a main menu for one or more clips, i.e. mpeg files, and zero or more submenus. A submenu must have two or more thumb nails for chapter points within the choosen clip. The content of all of the menus is static. IMHO it is very simple and excellent tool for what it does, but flexible or comprehensive it ain't.

  6. I've just bought Ulead's DVDMF 3 (download). I have (had) DVDMF and DVDMF 3. The main reason I wanted 3 is because I wanted to be able to make collectionDVD's from the DVD-RW's from a desktop DVDrecorder (Philips DVDR 75) and up till now it was impossible with whatever program, even Nero 6 which couldn't read most of the mentioned RW's. I have tried DVDlab, which looks great but crashed on my computer after a few seconds.. I think that DVDlab is also not capable of importing stuff from DVD's. DVDMF 3 is not ideal, but does the job I want plus it seems the makers have the ambition in mimicking part of the Nero 6 suite, of course Nero is a well proven burn program, but the extra's that come with DVDMF 3 are not bad. If you do not need to import DVDstuff and can do without moving menu's you can stick to DVDMF 2 (Note: I use Win XP)
