  1. I was curious if you could take an ebook(s) & convert it to be read through your dvd player? You'd put it on a dvd & then play it page by page.

  2. yes you can, but it would be very timely.

in a nutshell it would involve converting the ebook to a picture format (jpg, bmp, etc) or to some "type" format (like microsoftword for example).

Next you would have to take certain sections of the text and put them in a box of 720 x480 (highest size allowed for NTSC dvd resolution) and make sure you do not go to close to the edges of the 720x480 so you dont get
them cut-off by the tv cropping.

once thats done you can use them as menus or a slide show, etc in whatever dvd app you choose to use-just link them all together

    again, easy but timely

for that super quick method you would like, i am unaware of any program that would convert it in such a way

  3. Here is what I would do.

Scan in every page that you want to add to your Book slideshow.

Use Oscar's JPEG Thumb Maker to resize all images in folder to 720x480 (or simply use Microsoft Paint).

Author with music if you like.

    Burn.

  5. JPG's would take a long time.....

Maybe a scrolling title? A very long one at that

  6. You wouldn't be able to put much text on each page. The resolution and qulaity of DVD/TV display is not very good for text.

Irfanview will do this easily, as well as batch conversion to different formats. Check it out, it's a great free Image Tool that everyone should have. It also has some cool and powerfull filters.

Several apps can do this, pretty sure the registered version of ACDSEE can do the same on a directory..

And second that, unless you've got HDTV or something and really good output, don't expect to be able to read it easily. There's a reason 80's type TV display computers only did 40 columns max, TV's don't have the bandwidth to do it clearly. You can do 80 and see it somewhat on a good normal TV, but the edges shift a bit for the different colors, pretty tough to read. Split composite was capable of 80 ok though, so SVHS etc may do ok on a very good TV.

  9. if you can get the pages to be jpegs, try using nero and create a vcd with the pictures. I've created picture slides show like that but have not tried it with "text". Good luck.

Just buy a (paper)book and read it. E-books, however viewed, are bad for your eyes.

Appreciate the value of a good book. Don't let Microsoft dictate where and how you can read a book. Go to a park or a library and get away from the computer/screen for a while.

And before any of you point out the irony of bemoaning a computer from a computer, I've already thought of that :P
