I recently backed up spiderman cartoon series (2 discs) and had trouble with dvd20nex (not enough space on disc) so i compressed it twice and it worked, it played fine on the mac, when i tried it a month later it had no sound on the pioneer stand alone player. This is the first time i have had this problem. can someone please help me with this.

What kind of audio track is it? If it is mp2 audio, you might find that it is not automatically sent out of the optical output of the DVD player, but is only outputted through the analogue RCA jacks. At least that is the case with my Panasonic. You can either re-author the disk with AC3 audio or look for a setting on the player that says something like "MPEG Audio - PCM out" which converts and send it out through the optical link.
Go off and rule the universe from beyond the grave. Or check into a psycho ward, whichever comes first, eh?
