Intervideo DVDCopy 1.2 Platinum

I've seen a forum with other people who had the same problem, but I cant seem to find it now

Anyway, I have version 1.2 of dvdcopy platinum, and I dont feel like paying for an upgrade to 2.0 (there dont seem to be any MAJOR changes).

Problem: The vieo files (after being transcoded) delete themselves as soon as the program is done, even before I close it. I set the target output to a folder on my desktop. When its done its job, the program auto-deletes the files! The only way I'm able to get this to work is by making it write directly to the cd once its done...

That is just the way 1.2 works.... nothing you can do about it unless when you see it parsing the vobs you make the files read only.

BTW 2.0 keeps the files.

The actual end result is excellent...but not enough options, random file deletions...uff.

YEah, I know what you mean. I was pissed off that it doesn't store those files on the HDD like it said it would (look at instructions).

I've gotten pretty good results with Lord of the Rings.....but they lie.....there is a noticeable loss in quality. Blockiness is noticeable in darker scenes.

You can keep the files if your carefull. After it rips the file's to the drive and prompts you to insert a blank disk into the drive to finish the copy. Don't do anything. Do not insert a blank disk or click on anything. Open up explorer and go to the directory that DVDXcopy ripped the files to. Then highlight them all and copy (not paste) them to another directory or folder. This should work for you.

Atleast it works for me in older versions of DVDXcopy but I would imagine that platinum would be the same.

I'll try that next time. But, what pisses me off is that in the instructions and website, they claim that you can do DVD-to-HDD. Oh well, I should learned since they also claim so falliciously that you can back up a DVD-9 to DVD-5 with no loss of quality (of course I knew this couldn't be done).

Well, I downloaded the trial of version 2.0...and its AWESOME. Try it, seriously. There is VEYR LITTLE (if any, lol) loss in quality...and if there is, I definitely cant tell.

Oh yeah, and it saves to HDD

I'm testing the Gold version now and have been saving files to the HDD by encoding to a folder.

why doesnt this program output to 4.38GB?

it only creates it at 4.06GB or 4.30GB

You can set a custom size in the options/preferences menu.

I've been playing with it and must admit iit does the best job I've seen so far. It does do some micro focusing in and out in certain scenes. Anyone else notice?

I have two drives so I dont have to worry about saving them to the hard disc.But I desided to see and I copied them to the hard disc closed out the program and they were still there. I know my buddy he has only a burner and he uses dvd copy all the time.It the only program I use,over 500+ movies with it and I too backed up all the lord of the rings all three movies and have not seen no artifacting or pixelation 100% quality in my eyes considering Ive burnt over 1000.The second version is real buggy i would stick with 1.2 It's the best and intervideo makes really good software
