I get 5 free rentals a week. I usually rent a couple of movies per week but now that first session of summer school is almost over, I have a lot more time on my hands. So, help me fill up my weekly rentals. Suggest any movie, new or old, that you think is worth watching. Thanks

EDIT: Also, keep in mind that blockbuster doesnt carry porn.

  5. The aforementioned movies are good for a laugh at how bad they are. You'll find them in the comedy section of the store.

    The Tingler (Vincent Price)
Aero-Troopers (kind of interesting, might bore some people)
    City of Lost Children
    THX 1138 (Robert Duvall)
Allan Quartermain and the Lost city of gold (Richard Chaimberland)
    King Solomon's mines (Richard Chaimberland)
    Thumb Wars
Ghost Ship (worth watching once if it's a free rental)
    Batteries Not Included
Gremlins I & II ( I wish they'd make a 3rd, but it might be pushing it as Speilberg is going pansy like Lucas)
Memoirs of an invisible man (Chevy Chase)
    Funny Farm (Chevy Chase)

Let me know if you want more and what types of movies you like along with movies you've already seen, so you don't double over and get crappy movies.

Whatever you do, don't watch 'house of the dead'. I was ready to ask for my rental fee back and sue the production company for zombie movies a bad name. I thought 'Gili' and 'From Justin to Kelly' were much better. I'd rather sit through 'Real Cancun' in a theater than watch House of the Dead at home on my TV. I felt my Home Theater and TV were dirty after see it.

There are still some Hollywood franchises that offer porn, but most don't. It's just privately owned franchises and the porn rentals actually fall under a different store name. You can tell this when you use your credit card, because the National franchises say 'Purchase*Hollywood Vid' on the statement, but the private franchises usually say 'Tims rentals', 'adult movieplex', or something like that. The private franchises just pay for the name and a few other features. We have one Hollywood like that, but it's not too close. The cool thing is they have hard to find and old regular movies most Hollywoods don't, like cult classics and B-Movies. They also have a different pricing system on their porn rentals. It's like $5.95-6.95 for 5 days.

I know PST and GST are taxes, but what the he** is the percentage used to figure them. I can never figure it out. How come they just don't flat percentage it per area and keep it simple. Of course Monopoly money feels more real that Canadian currency. Of course what would you expect from people who name coins Looneys and Two-neys. I understand the $1 coin because most have a Loon on the back. But the $2 coin has a bear. Or was it a beaver? Actually, I think the nickel has a beaver. Centenntial Pennies had the loon in flight and the rest had Maple leaves. The Dime has a sail boat, except some of the new collector ones. The quarter I think has a moose, elk, or a deer of something of the like on it, again, except for the new collector ones. But all the other coins are still called quarters, nickels, dimes, & pennies.
    Quote Quote
  19. Lol, after "Looney" became synonymous for a buck, two bucks just followed as "twoney", or "tooney", depending...
The federal govt charges 7% GST. That's standard across the country.
Each Province charges slightly different amounts. In B.C. It's 7.5%
Each tax is NOT charged on top of either, each is only charged on the ticked price, so a $10 item will cost you $11.45
The tooney does have the polar bear on it.
The Dime has a sail boat
That "sailboat" is the BlueNose II

Ask some of our Aussie friends why THEY have to have a 20 cent coin, and not a quarter?

Most of them are still on the new release wall. What a waste of space.

In a related story...when you're helping a customer at the register, you have to read the title and tell them the due date. This one guy came up to a friend of mine and she started scanning his movies. She said "Gigli, and justin to kelly are both due back...." but when she said it, she raised her eyebrows and the dude caught on and started laughing. He said..."I know, I cant believe I'm renting em either".

It was one of those you had to be there kind of moments.

As for the titles...keep em coming guys. I'm jotting down the titles that sound good. @ Doramius...I'll watch anything. I'm a huge comedy fan but I like all sorts of movies.

I've watched many movies, a lot of titles I've forgotten about, but if you want titles, I'll give them to you as they come to mind. I'll also only give you ones I think are about a 6 or higher out of 10.

I got the moviepass from blockbuster. I get unlimited rentals, and can keep them until I want to return them. I would definitely not rent gigli though. That is a joke.

I havent had much time to play hitman so I'm only on the third level...but its pretty damn good. You have unlimited options on how you can kill a person and the animation is awesome. Of course, you could just grab an automatic and shoot your way through the game, but that ruins the fun of it.

I think everyone here has seen scarface so I dont think I need to say anything about that. If you havent, whats wrong with you?

Pirates of the carribean wasnt bad. There were a few funny parts but the part I really liked was how the bumbling idiot of the movie came up with a master plan.

Paycheck was good. I had really low expectations for the movie because I dont like affleck(sp?) but it turned out ok.

Also, dont watch 50 first dates....its a waste of time.
