I am looking for some professional software recommendations to encode wedding video for dvds.
I also would like recommendations for authoring software. I currently edit with Adobe Premiere 6. Anyone out there that does weddings as a profession please feel free to contribute. Thanks

You want to edit or just encode??? You said just encode...I asume you want to edit them too...
Basically Premire will work fine...The easyest way to make it work is to use uncompressed avi files...if you have the hard drive space...Do you?? A better program is Avid Express Pro, but it is expensive...
What kind of editing do you want to do?? Simple cut and join, or more bold stuff like zomming and neat transitions...?? need more info... -
ok, I am sorry I read you wrong...for encoding I recommend TMGenc, but really for DVD it does not matter to much, if you want the standard two hours in one 4.3GB DVD. Never use the encoding in Premire...it is crap.
What kind of editing do you want to use?? -
what makes editing a wedding video different from any other video?
if you're looking for specialized transitions, frames, graphics, etc, check out DigitalJuice, I think they have some video & graphics stuff aimed at wedding videos. pricey, though.- housepig

I want to know what software other professionals that do weddings use to get an idea of what outputs good quality. I want to do weddings and make some money at it, hopefully. I would like to be able to put out decent work. I currently have TmpGenc plus and TmpGenc dvd author. I was looking for other maybe faster encoding times and more to work with than dvd author. Do you guys do wedding videos professionly? I use avi and wave files and do my editing with Adobe Premiere. I just want to hear what others are using.

Yes, there are more professional programs to use...for example, Avid Express Pro is hands down better than Premire...
As for encoding, if you are looking for speed, CCE is probably the fastest, but TMGenc is great. but you must use avisynth with CCE.
So, set it up like this...
avi >> Premire/Avid >> avisynth (frameserve) >> CCE -
I am a wedding videographer also and I use Premiere. It seems that most of the people I talk with in this industry love Vegas and more WV'ers use it than most other proggies combined.
I use Premiere simply because its what Im used to.
