Anyone have suggestions for capturing streaming video?

I'm having the most problems with Real media. (Yeah, I know, why would I want it? Well, I do.) Anyone know of any application or method to download the .rm file?

VLC apparently works for RTSP streams, but I've never been able to get it to work.

ASFRecorder works for .asf files, but doesn't seem to work all of the time.

I used to be able to "Save As..." or right-click Quicktime/.mov files, but now I can't. I've had to resort to using Web Devil or PageSucker to download it.

Any suggestions? I'd love to find an all-in-one streaming video capture utility, but I don't think that's very likely.

I'm not too sure about downloading the files but the new ffmpegX (.9L) has support for Realmedia encoding with mencoder.

Sorry if I didn't phrase the question well. I'm not looking to make video files really, just capture streaming videos that you can't normally download, like Real media, some Quicktime movs, and so on.

Yes! On a windows box it works great (takes some tweaking and re-tries) and eventually captures Real audio and video streams.

Ironically I use it regularly to capture stuff for a Mac-enabled friend of mine.

There is a pretty complete forum for this piece of software that discusses how to find the link to use for downloading streaming media (which can be a chore in itself).

SnpzProx will do all that for you

it can capture audio and video and will even sync them togeter and give you input/output options for quality etc

overall a nice app newest version is much better. v1 use to look "blocky" during video, now its almost to the point you cant tell the difference
