  1. ok, i know this site is full and overflowing with millions of guides on how to author dvd's.

but i run into problems when i try to burn a 20 minute video clip with sonic mydvd.

a dvd should be able to hold about 2 hours of video, but this clip fills up more than half the dvd when i add it to my compilation in sonicmydvd.

can someone please tell me a better way to do this?

i just need to be able to fill a dvd to its max which is about 2 hours and not have it freeze or anything. my pc is quite fast so it shouldnt freeze, and i have alot of memory so im ok with that. also.... menus i can understand would take away from the available space, but if i need to, then i will omit them because they arent neccessary for my needs.

all i ask is for someone to please share their knowledge with me for i am not very dvd-literate so to speak, but i do understand alot in the computer/technology field.

    thanks a million

Your first problem is using Sonic MyDvd for encoding/authoring. This will only allow PCM audio, which is uncompressed and therefore HUGE and the encoder is not too good either. Learn to use a standalone encoder like TmpGenc, Mainconcept, CCE etc.

NOPE. A DVD can hold much more, or much less, than this, depending on the audio and video bitrates. You can easily fit 4 hours on a DVDr with half decent quality and even six hours at lower quality if thats what you want. You know the guides exist, read a few, pick one that seems to best suit your needs and try following it. If it doesn't work for you then feel free to come back and ask more specific questions and you will get all the help you need.

Thats what the guides and the many thousands of forum posts are about. Do some research and learning first. People will be very helpful when you ask specific questions and give plenty of info on your problems, but don't expect handholding from start to finish.

    Good luck
