I was looking through HardcoreRuss' dvd collection and noticed that a lot of Region 2 DVDs had different covers than Region 1 DVD. In fact most of them looked much better than the Region 1 versions. The Region 2 DVDs had more pictures and more artwork on the DVDs than the Region 1 DVDs do. I think the Back To The Future DVDs looked sweet! As did the Ghostbusters DVDs. So my question. Why the difference in packaging?

  3. Thats strange you say that tgpo because me and my other dvd affecianado buddies would always buy a region 1 dvd compared to a region 2. I only buy region 2 if they are considerably cheaper.

Region 1's normally have more features and better soundtracks being the dts track which i find is more superior to 5.1.

However when it comes to boxsets Region 4 are the ones to watch. I have a brilliant Band of Brothers boxset which is not on my dvd list that I will have to add.

A major dvd is the Japanese Kill Bill featuring more than 15 minutes of uncut footage which you dont get on the region 1 or region 2.

I actually think the region 1 ghostbusters looks better, however your b2tf looks shite.

So basically to sum up all that rambling, our dvd's may have better covers but the actual discs are far superior to ours, also they get released earlier.

I like the original Ghostbusters packaging better. The first movie, which the black background brings back memories. Plus your version of Ghostbusters 2 has Winston on the cover, ours doesn't.

i remember reading something about american audiences preferring "character driven" dvd covers. this was in relation to the red dwarf dvd's which have different artwork.

haha, just checked your BTTF dvd's - lame!! the uk ones are pretty much just the NTSC wide LD's, but smaller.
