  1. Hoping to get a simple answer to my annoying problem. I've been making my own vcds/dvds for about a year, and I've always had the same problem with my initial captured video: along the bottom of the screen, there is a thin, diagonalized portion of the screen that gives the impression that you're looking at a tv screen with vertical hold issues. I've noticed that it's slightly different between camcorders and vcrs as sources. I would LOVE to find out how I can adjust this before commencing with the capture, since I've been having to utlilize TMPGEnc to crop the image and thus wait for 10 hours or so, just to eliminate this little nuisance. I've encountered this while utilizing Pinnacle Linx cable, and now with an Avermedia capture card with composite video-in.Thanks in advance for any help! Jeff

AFAIK this happens with analog capture. I too have experienced it but I watch all of my caps on TV and overscan takes care of it for me.

I don't think there is any way around having to crop if you want to watch it on your PC, but there are faster methods of cropping than using TMPGEnc's inbuilt crop, such as AVISynth scripts.
    If in doubt, Google it.

This lines on the bottom are always present. We don't see them, because of the overscan of our TVs.

I always crop those lines with TMPGenc plus. About 8 - 10 at the bottom. And I never experienced a lower encoding speed because of this! In the matter of fact, TMPGenc don't crop those lines, it mask them with black (or whatever you wish) lines and at the same time centers the picture (use aspect ratio 2).

I can't understand why you have this speed problem
