I recall all the problems you had setting up your router.....Can you get to the router setup page from the browser of the non-working computer? Remember, it should be 192.168.0.1 (or something very similar). If you can get to the router screen, but not out to the internet, you may need to drop and renew your DHCP.

Can you go to a command prompt and ping the router? Sounds like a network card or cable on the non-working computer.

You can test the card with a loopback ping. Ping 127.0.0.1 If theres no response there, it's either the card or the config.

  7. You can try power-cycling the router.

I had the same model and really loved it, now I only buy SMC routers.

Possibly, but I would think that if it were the router, the other pc would not work as well.....

  9. Or possibly one defective LAn port (very far-fetched, i know). You can try changing the port.

EDIT: I re-read your first post, if it suddenly stopped working, then you should power cycle both modem and router. Also, is DHCP enabled in the router? In your network settings on the affected PC, is it set to automatically get the IP address or is it manual?

I would still like to know if he can ping the local machine. That would rule out the router right there. While a power cycle on the router and modem is a valid first step in troubleshooting, if the second machine is working, you can rule out the modem since the router sees the connection.

From there, it can only be the router back to the pc(s). One pc working, (probably) not the router, although, yes, could be one LAN port. Does the router show a link with the non-working pc? Check the link lights. Since he can't ping the router from the pc, it is either setup, NIC, or cable. Ping the local machine. Get a response - try a different CAT5 cable, and/or a different LAN port. No response, check the setup, or replace the NIC.
