  1. This is my first posting, even though I have been reading this web site for some time now.. I own one of the slower Pioneer DVR-104 model. I was using Princos-rw disks with moderate sucess. I want to step up a grade and was set to order Ritek, but I see pioneer recommends Prodisc. I also have an Epson R200 printer, so I would be buying the disks with the printable labels. Any suggestions as to which would be better. I would mostly be playing the disks back on a Panasonic RP56 DVD Player.

    Thanks for your help

Personally I use prodisc but I hear great reviews for ritekg04 as well. I have a pioneer burner and prodisc are cheaper so I ended up buying prodisc and have been very pleased. I used the silver matte finish ones though (4x)

Don't know about the printer part, but the RITEK INKJET and PRODISC INKJET and PRODISC THERMAL PRINT discs are all excellent, the same in quality.

    Non Inkjet RITEK has issues.

  5. Just to let you guys know I went with the Prodisc. No problems with the dvd player and after 20 disks no coasters, great disks. The printing on the epson r200 was a bit of a pain at first, i had it set to text on the printer and it wouldn't print to the dvd's. I figured it out that needed to be on the photo setting to work, when i already brought it to a tech because I thought it wasn't working. Didnt cost anything because it was still new. Thank God. Thanks for everyones thoughts on the media.

  6. I had a bad batch of Ritek DVD-R 4x inkjet printable that I got back around the first of the year. They had faint circular spots on the writeable side of the discs. These burned okay but seemed to have gitches and bad playbacks which was kind of random and could be anywhere on the disc really, though the end was worse. It seemed to show up and be a problem on certain DVD players more than others. I used all of my first 50pk but the second 50pk was even worse and was burning some discs at only 2x. Also had some coasters at the bottom of the first pack.

I sent the second 50 pack back and got credit for them. I replaced these with the Prodisc 4x DVD-R inkjet printable discs. These have been great and I have seen no problems with them. They are also cheaper in price, but prices have really gone down as well since the first of the year on all of the media. I hope Prodisc keeps their quality high and doesn't start getting like Ritek seems to have become.
