Hi, I'm backing up episodes of Star Trek from my Sony DVP-NC665P, which for some reason acts very strangely when playing star trek episodes (and it only does this for star trek episodes!).

Occasionally, there is a short stutter between edits, for example it will show, for one frame only, both the previous shot and the next shot at the same time. Also, the video sometimes turns choppy for a only a few seconds and then corrects itself.

This isn't a Macrovision issue I don't think, since I know it happens when I'm just watching the DVD and not recording it. Does anyone know what's going on?
