  1. Hi guys, I have a problem, well I think it may be a problem but Im not sure. I recently purchased this recorder and hooked it up and set everything up but when I power it off and back on (not unplugging it, just turning the power off) it makes me set my default language and wants me to hook up cable so it can auto set the time. I set the time manually and the unit remembers the time correctly. Does anyone else have this unit and does it do that for them? or do I have a defective model? or am I missing a setting somewhere to turn this off? Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

  3. Maybe you set it up to auto set the time but you don't have a cable connected? I know its an option on my recorder. It must be able to get PBS to set the time.

  4. as far as i can tell, I dont see an option to set it to manual or auto, there is just auto and manual settings, and no I dont have cable plugged in. I do have satellite through S-Video. Its not a problem if others are having it too, I just wanted to make sure I didnt have a defective unit. If you know where to set it to manual, please let me know, I cant even find it in the manual. thanks again for all your help so far.

This is actually a common feature (or problem) for all Panasonic models when the built-in TV tuner was not tuned at the initial setup stage. Yes you can ignore it just by pushing the return button. Or as others found out, just connect the unit to an antenna or cable input and let the TV tuner properly tuned and then disconnect, and it won't bother you again.
