I noticed an annoying problem with the latest version of TMPGEnc (2.01). I've been converting to MPEG-2 with VBR settings such that I can fit about 46 minutes on one 80 minute CD. However, when I tried converting a 45 minute MPEG-1 *using the same template* but with 2.01 instead of 12a, the file size produced after muxing the .m2v and .mp2 files in BBMPEG was 791 MB instead of the usual ~750 MB. (And the BIN file ends up being too large to fit on 1 CD.)
At first I thought I had messed something up, but to verify it was TMPG I took a small .m1v file (8243 KB) and converted it with 2.01 and 12a (using the same template, of course). The 12a .m2v file was 6729 KB and the 2.01 .m2v file was 6878 KB. Not a huge difference (149 KB), but over the course of a large MPEG file this difference ends up costing me the ability to fit on 1 CD.
Anyone else notice this? What does this newer version do differently that causes the file size increase?
