  1. Hey ,
I bought this player a few days ago ..
it's working great all apart for the subtitles option .
from what i've seen it does not support AVI Playback with subtitles .
is there a way to make a subtitle work ?
    i tried
.SRT - which i've seen everyone mentioned that isn't being support
    .SUB - also didn't work
and also some of the movies i have with a .Idx .SUB
but that also dosen't seem to work..

    Thanks in advance

  2. I spoke to a customer service rep from philips and he confirmed that divx subs are not supported, despite reports that they are. He assured me that subtitle support was being implemented in the next firmware update but he couldn't give me a time table.

Until then what is the easiest way to hard encode .srt subs to a divx file?
    Thanks

Thanks for the news, this is great to hear. There are a number of messages in the DVD Player Compatibility section on here that state that .txt subtitle files work, but didn't mention what format those should be in. I haven't had any luck getting those to work, myself, and was just about to post asking for more details from anyone who had.

I don't suppose the customer service guy said what subtitle formats it would support? I have a few movies I want to burn, but I'd like to get the subs into the right format for the player before burning. Did you call the number that came in the box for help with the player to reach that CSR?
